This hand-made box was created as a gift for my Yoga teacher, who first introduced me to the mysterious, challenging, and vitally important undertaking of pranayama. Alas, I have yet to finish the final piece that will complete the gift – a depiction of the miraculous churning of the ocean to produce the nectar of immortality: prana. I am, however, proud of the fact that the box itself closes up into a shape ~2 inches high, and opens up expansively to ~7 inches high (even higher once the final piece sits atop it). To me it’s reminiscent of the ebb and flow of the body animated by the life force, prana.
